Tummy Tuck & Liposuction

Sculpt a stronger, smoother you!

At Heartland Plastic Surgery, we know that even with healthy habits, some areas of the body can resist change. Whether you’re struggling with loose skin after pregnancy or weight loss, or frustrated by stubborn fat that won’t respond to diet and exercise, Tummy Tuck and Liposuction in Wichita procedures can help reshape your midsection—and your confidence.

Dr. Biskup specializes in NATURAL-LOOKING belly buttons and LIPOSCULPTURE, designed to restore a natural and sculpted abdomen.

Why Tummy Tuck or Liposuction?

While both procedures can dramatically improve your silhouette, they serve different purposes—and often work best when combined for comprehensive body contouring. They can be done separetly or combined together depending on your anatomy and goals.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty):

A tummy tuck in Wichita removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen and tightens weakened or separated abdominal muscles. It’s especially helpful after:

  • Pregnancy

  • Significant weight loss

  • Aging-related skin laxity

  • Diastasis recti (abdominal muscle separation)

Liposuction:

Liposuction in Wichita is ideal for removing stubborn fat deposits in targeted areas like:

  • Abdomen and waist

  • Flanks (“love handles”)

  • Thighs, hips, back, arms, and neck

  • As part of a Mommy Makeover or body contouring plan

Liposuction doesn’t tighten skin or muscles but is excellent for sculpting and refining body shape.

Am I a Good Candidate?

You may be a good candidate for tummy tuck, liposuction, or both if you:

  • Are at or near your goal weight
  • Have loose or excess skin on your abdomen
  • Have isolated areas of stubborn fat
  • Are in good overall health
  • Have realistic expectations about results and recovery

These procedures are not weight-loss solutions but powerful tools to refine your shape and restore body confidence.

Commonly Asked Questions!

Am I a Candidate for Tummy Tuck or Liposuction?

Candidates are typically in good overall health and close to their ideal weight. Liposuction is best for patients with localized fat and good skin elasticity, while a tummy tuck is ideal for those with excess skin or weakened abdominal muscles, often after pregnancy or weight loss. A consultation helps determine the best approach for your goals.

What is the Difference Between Tummy Tuck and Liposuction?

Liposuction removes excess pockets of stubborn fat, while a tummy tuck removes excess skin and tightens abdominal muscles. Liposuction does not address loose skin or muscle separation, which a tummy tuck is specifically designed to correct.  A tummy tuck addresses excess, sagging skin, separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti), and stubborn fat. It can also remove some stretch marks, located on the lower abdomen. Tummy tuck and liposuction are commonly done together.

Can Tummy Tuck and Liposuction be Combined?

Yes. These procedures are often combined to address both excess fat and loose skin for a more comprehensive result. Liposuction can truly enhance your abdominoplasty result.

Will a Tummy Tuck or Liposuction Help me Lose Weight?

A tummy tuck or liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. Both are best done when you have a healthy lifestyle and you’ve reached our ideal body weight or are within 10-20 lbs of your ideal weight. Although we do not have a string BMI cut off to do liposuction or an abdominoplasty, a BMI less then 35 is ideal. Your risk of complications and poor aesthetic result is much more likely with a higher BMI.

What is Recovery Like After a Tummy Tuck? How Much Time Do I Need Off Work after a Tummy Tuck?

Those with an active job typically require 2 weeks off work, while those with more sedentary/desk jobs may return to work at 1 week after surgery. The first week after surgery, you will walk with hunched over with your hips flexed. Swelling is at its worst in the first 2 weeks. It takes 3 months to see the final result. Compression in worn for 6 weeks night and day, followed by 6 weeks of daytime wear only.   Light activities can usually be resumed within a couple of weeks, while more strenuous exercise should be avoided for several weeks.

Is a Tummy Tuck Painful?

Severe to moderate pain, tightness, and soreness is expected in the first 1 week after surgery. This improves significantly in the second week after surgery. Non-narcotic pain medicine (Journavx) and long-releasing numbing medicine (Zynrelef) are available and can help diminish pain significantly.

What is Recovery Like After Liposuction in Wichita?

Most patients experience mild to moderate swelling, bruising, and soreness for a few days. Many return to work within a few days to a week, depending on the extent of treatment. Compression garments are typically worn to support healing and optimize results.

How Much does Liposuction or a Tummy Tuck in Wichita Cost?
Liposuction by itself starts at $3000, but price can increase with additional areas of liposuction. Abdominoplasty cost varies depending on length of scar and extent of the procedure but can cost $7,000-$12,000.
Will my Result after a Tummy Tuck Look Natural? Are Results Permanent?
Results with a tummy tuck can vary from surgeon to surgeon. It is important to create a natural-looking belly button, a low-lying scar easily hidden by underwear, and a natural abdominal contour that simulates the curvatures of a natural female abdomen.
Results after a tummy tuck are permanent. However, they do require continued healthy lifestyle and exercise to maintain a healthy weight and sustained result.
Will I have Loose Skin after Liposuction?

This depends on your skin elasticity. Patients with good skin tone often see smooth results, while those with reduced elasticity may notice some skin laxity. In these cases, a tummy tuck or other skin-tightening procedure may be recommended.

What can I do to Enhance my Recovery after Liposuction and Tummy Tuck in Wichita?
Maintaining a healthy diet is important, with plenty of protein and balanced nutrients from fruits and vegetables. Be careful with very salty foods or a high-sodium diet as this can worsen swelling. Arnica and Bromaline tablets can be used to decrease bruising after surgery. Stay hydrated with water and electrolyte-laden fluids. Have your house ready and adequate support for your recovery process. Listen to your body and do not push yourself. Healing takes time and patience.
